Our Management Team - Joseph McKey
Joseph, one of the two LLC members of Paragon Construction, started McKey Contracting in
April 2002 to pursue his interest and experience in the residential construction business and to
spend more time with his young family and growing family. He began as McKey Contracting, a
small handyman company, and with the assistance of his business partner and long-time
friend, Jeremy Shank, formed Paragon Construction Company LLC.
Prior to starting McKey Contracting in 2002, Joseph served Minol as its Eastern Production
Manager for a Dallas-based utility services company, Minol-MTR. Joining Minol in 2000, he
served in a variety of capacities - from service/installer technician in Austin, Texas, to project
manager in Richmond, Virginia. Joseph was responsible for developing client relationships,
managing multiple service/installer techs in his service territory, as well as maintaining and
installing individual metering devices in Minol's client's multi-family housing projects.
Joseph attended the University of Texas at Austin and Louisiana State University in Alexandria.
Prior to attending college, Joseph joined the United States Marine Corp. After four years of
service, including serving as platoon sergeant, he was Honorably Discharged as a Corporal.

Establishing Paragon Construction has been an important part of his life goals as Joseph says, "I have always enjoyed the building industry and
working with my hands. Ever since I was a child, I would build and take apart projects. The idea of working for myself has always been a goal of
mine. Having a family and more time with them, made it easier in taking the leap into entrepreneurship."
Joseph, his wife and four children reside in Midlothian, Virginia.
